The Mala Mala Game Reserve is the largest private game park in the immediate vicinity of the Kruger National Park, which has built up an internationally acclaimed reputation while many photographers and film crews from around the world have filmed here because of the abundance of game in our game park. We are very proud to have been able to host many Hollywood productions at our nature reserve!
The reserve is 18.000 hectares big and is located only 19 km away from the world famous Kruger National Park. Our game reserve is strategically located between the National Park and Sabi Sand Reserve, making it the largest private game reserves in South Africa.
For over four decades, Michael Rattay has concentrated on his goal to protect the flora and fauna of this natural reserve. All the work around the animal protection was worth it, as the reserve offers the largest concentration of species on the African continent.
You can take two safaris a day where you will be able to observe lions, cheetahs and leopads. In addition, you can participate in walking safaris with an armed ranchers as well as several other adventures. In our game park, you will find 200 different wild animals and a rich bird life. You will have a great chance to view the Big 5 of Africa: Buffalo, elephants, lions, leopards and rhinos regularly visit our game reserve. In addition, you will see zebras, giraffes, wild dogs, hyenas, antelopes and many varieties of wildlife in our park!
Those who prefer to relax by the pool, the lodges offer a great opportunity to do so. By 16:00, you can enjoy coffee, tea and pastries. The bar provides you with exotic drinks and our staff will try to fulfill every request.
Then you can look forward to the late afternoon safari, which will run until 19:30. Especially before sunset, big cats and many other wild animals are easily observed.
Once in camp, our chef will prepare excellent South African delicacies. In nice weather we are preparing a campfire in the boma, where your food will be served as well. Our wine list offers a good selection of South African white and red wines. In addition to the evening atmosphere expect an African night sky! After dinner you can chat at the bar with other guests about your adventure at the Kruger Park and learn first-hand many tips for other tours throughout South Africa.
There are three options for your stay - the Mala Mala Main Camp, Sable Camp and Rattray's Camp have been integrated into the bush with all its glory. Below you will find informtion on all three types of accommodation.

Rattray’s on Mala Mala At the exclusive Camps Rattray's you will find everything you desire. It is situated on a sall hill at the Sabi River with a magnificent view of the surrounding area.
